Randel Mcgee {Hans Christian Anderson}

I met Randel McGee last year at the annual Danish Days festival in Solvang. I loved his impersonation of Hans Christian Anderson and his amazing talent of paper cutting while telling very animated and humorous stories. We became friends and wouldn't you know, he's LDS. How wonderful! I made a trade of taking portraits of him for one of his most intricate paper cuttings that he beautifully framed for me.

2011 Fall School Portraits

I had a nice turn out for school photos this year. Instead of offering just a studio backdrop, I included an outdoor option that parents really liked. They also liked my option of sibling and group portraits. It sets me apart from Lifetouch.

Oct. 1 - Dog Parade Day

Meet the 5th member of our family, Charley!
The SPCA hosted a Dog Parade today at Andrew's park. After the parade you had to bring your dog on stage for the judges. Charley didn't win anything, but he is a winner to us. Charley had so much fun making lots of new friends today. He's going to sleep good tonight.

27th Annual CA Coastal Clean-Up Day: Sept. 17

In Vacaville, volunteers cleaned up 10.25 miles of creeks, collected more than 4,100 pounds of trash and sent nearly 900 pounds of materials to a recycling center. Countrywide more than 2,600 people volunteered on this day. This was my 3rd year volunteering as a photographer and group leader. Carissa and Maia look forward to it every year. Carissa loved that a clip board list was incorporated. She checked off the waste that was found and Maia picked it up (this was their arrangement).Abandoned little kitten was found by the creek by one of the volunteers, Elder Brower.

Hans Christian Anderson Storytelling Shows

Danish Days - September 16-18

I recently had the privilege of taking some fabulous portraits of a very talented man, Randal McGee. I met him in 2010 at the Solvang (located in California) Danish Days Festival. Solvang, meaning "sunny field" in Danish - was founded in 1911 and is celebrating its Centennial this year. Besides great food like medisterpolse (danish sausage) and aebleskiver (light and airy pancake balls dusted with powdered sugar and served with raspberry jam), I love the Hans Christian Anderson Museum, honoring the multi-talented Danish father of the modern fairy tale. It is filled with originals and copies of of Anderson's books, sketches, paper cutouts, silhouettes and collages. Randal does an amazing impersonation of Anderson. He performs each year in Solvang at the H.C. museum & at the Elverhoj Museum of History and Art.
